How Long Should Water Be Infused Before Consumption?
It’s a good idea to allow your water to be infused once the ingredients have been added for about 1-2 hours if you’re leaving the water outside of the refrigerator. If you’re going to put your infused water in the fridge, you’ll typically want to double this time, so it’ll likely be 3-4 hours before your water is ready to be consumed.

Yes, you can re-use fruit, but with every re-use, you’re going to lose some flavor, so keep that in mind. Rather than infusing a whole new bottle of water, you should actually refill your bottle every time it gets to the halfway point. That way, new water picks up some of the flavor from the old water.

However, it’s important that you do not allow your water to sit at room temperature for more than 4 hours. After that, it should either be consumed, or put in the refrigerator. If you leave it out longer than that, you could end up ingesting bacteria and / or mold.
Should I Use Distilled Water?
No, you don’t have to use distilled water. However, you can if you want.

No, you don’t have to. Like distilled water, you can if you want to, though.
What About Dried Fruits?
Dried fruits should be avoided, as the results will be quite poor.
Can I Use Frozen Fruit?
Yes, you can use frozen fruit, but the flavor won’t be as great as fresh fruit. Also, frozen fruit has a habit of falling apart in water.
Should I Use Organic Ingredients?
Yes, it’s extremely important that you use organic ingredients if possible. If not, you should cut the rind off of your fruit. If not, you could potentially ingest pesticides and other harmful ingredients. If you can’t eliminate the rind, you should clean your ingredients thoroughly.
What’s a Good Container?
If you’re experimenting around with new recipes in large batches, you may want to acquire a large pitcher. This will also come in handy when you want to serve guests some of your infused water. If you’re not making batches in large quantities, mason jars are / canning jars are a great option. Alternatively, you can use also use a fruit infused water bottle.
Can I Consume Ingredients After Infusing?
Yes, you can consume your ingredients after they’ve been used to infuse your water. However, you may want to remember that they will not be as flavorful, and they will not be as colorful as they were prior to being used.

It’s unfortunate, but kiwi fruit is simply not a good ingredient when it comes to infusing water. Even though it looks to be a juicy enough fruit, it doesn’t yield worthwhile results when soaked in water. If you’re truly dedicated and want to use kiwi as an ingredient, you’ll have to soak it for a very long time — at least 36 hours.
Be Careful With Herbs
Herbs are great to use in your infused water, and there’s certainly no arguing that. However, you have to be very careful, or you could end up ruining a whole batch. For instance, rosemary can easily ruin your infused water if you use too much of it. Also, keep in mind that certain combinations of herbs with other ingredients will have negative results.
Don’t Go Too Sweet
It’s easily to get a little overzealous with your ingredients. After all, fruits like pineapple and strawberries are yummy and sweet, so people tend to add a lot to their water. However, you can definitely over sweeten your water. However, it’s not a huge deal. Simply add some ice or more water to your drink and it will dilute it.
